DANNY TREJO

Yesterday a guest speaker named Danny Trejo came to our school to keep us youngsters out of trouble. He was hilarious and made me laugh because all the stuff he said was true and I know people like the ones he described. He talked about his childhood with drugs, gangs, and getting locked up. The part that I like the most is when he would do the impressions of people and told us that the only good in his life came out of helping people. I like that part because it made me realize that i should start doing good for other people. From this talk I learned to keep up with my grades and actually care a lot about school. I also learned that it is sometimes better to not intimidate people because it gets me in trouble.

In the story 'We Shall Overcome': Reliving the Civil Rights Era they talk about a book that incorporates the civil rights of Blacks. They briefly talk about Rosa Parks and the bus boycott. THey talk about Blacks in the military and how even though they had medals a white lady wouldn't even give them water. They came out of the military to no democracy in the states. They talk about James Forman and his book. Tavis Smiley talks about how imprtant it was to incorporate idols such as Rosa Parks, MArtin Luther King, and others. Travis was friends to many of these leaders. Travis wrote the book because he had taught the subject of the Civil Rights Movement for almost 40 years. Travis wants the youth to realize the sacrafice it took. Even as teenagers he wants kids to get involved. For more information go to this website.

What will you remember about your generation? What will you hold as important to you?

The thing I will remember about my generation is George Bush becoming President and getting re-elected. Many have come ot say that the U.S. will become like the Roman Empire and I'm starting to believe it's true. The U.S. is always trying to control the world and I can't believe that people actually voted for Bush once again. He has started a War against innocent people and for what? Nothing... This will be important to me because I will never forget the stories of little children dying in Iraq. I can't believe President Bush has the audacity to try and take over a country for no good reason at all. That is a way to get our country into deep S**T!

Winter Vacation

Today is my first day back from winter break and I'm really tired. On Christmas I stayed at my house and kicked it. My cousins came over and we played football and video games all day long. Missy and her boyfriend broke up because of my stupid cousin! LoL! He sent David messages saying that Missy went out with him! Haha what a loser! I worked most of hte time and when I didn't I would hang out at Missy's or mess with Sergio and Hector! We did the usual prank calls and people started to laugh! I watched one of the funniest movies... Napoleon Dynamite! My uncle Andy is like living with us right now because he doesn't want to stayt in Echo Park because of something! He's really funny and makes me laugh! On New Year's Eve we had a huge house party and all my family and thier friends came over! It was so fun because when my uncles are drunk they give me money! We played poker and Texas Hold Em ...... Black Jack ....... Rummy and more! I put in $15 and lost $10! My uncle Alfonso got all the money because my uncle Andy lost a bluff! We didn't go to sleep until 5a.m. and everyone just crashed at our house! It was a funny vacation except when I had to do my homework!
